"Access to a pool that accommodates a variety of programs can be life-changing for families like ours."

As the mother and legal guardian of my 27-year-old son, Parker, who has profound autism and significant support needs, I wonder whether the impact that closing Valles Pool could have on the special needs community has been fully considered.

For many individuals with disabilities, aquatic facilities are much more than recreational spaces. They provide opportunities for exercise, sensory regulation, skill development, social interaction, and inclusion in a safe and structured environment. Access to a pool that accommodates a variety of programs can be life-changing for families like ours.
