The Town and the Y have had a very positive relationship over the years, and while this is a community Y, the town has been very financially supportive. I think taxpayers should speak up, as the loss to the town will be significant.
I feel the group that may be most negatively impacted are people of working age, who have to commute and get to their desks earlier. Early-morning swim will be virtually non-existent for adults when swim team is in season, as we all know how substandard the width of the lanes are for multiple swimmers. And this is the very group that is the backbone of the town's tax base.
And no matter what they say, without a diving well there will be no dive team.
